ENTRY LEVEL MANUFACTURING EXTRA HAND/LABORER POSITIONS

PCA – Riverville Mill, a major producer of containerboard, is seeking applications for our Extra Hand/Laborer positions. The Extra Board is an entry-level position in which individuals are trained in different jobs in the Mill to cover vacancies. Extra Board colleagues work an unpredictable 12-hour shift schedule (days, nights, and weekends) which varies from week to week with little consistency.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must have a High School or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
• Must be able to work entry-level jobs and be able to work in an industrial environment.

• Must be willing and able to work an unpredictable 12-hour shift schedule which includes: days, nights, and weekends that can change with very little notice.
• Must be willing and able to work overtime and work on most holidays.
• Experience in industrial work such as manufacturing, logging, warehousing, heavy equipment operation, or construction.
• Satisfactory completion of background check and drug screen.

Key Responsibilities

• Operates routine production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications provided.
• Carry out routine activities that produce the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances.
• Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications.
• Maintains logs and records of units produced. Report any errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
• Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area.
• Follow safety regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience

• 2 years of relevant full-time work experience.
• Ability to interpret and translate job specifications for production machinery.
• Fundamental understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Pulp & Paper industry experience preferred.
• At least 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing, warehouse, equipment or process operations and equivalent skills in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Tests and Board Interview:

• Those selected to go through the PCA hiring process will be asked to complete the WorkKeys Test at CVCC and take part in a structured board interview. A minimum test result score is required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• Starting salary range for position: $27.40/hr
• Paid Vacation: 2 weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
