Annual Salary Ranges Trans Landscape Architect I (B24): $65,104- $106,634 Trans Landscape Architect II (B26): $76,530- $129,430 Trans Landscape Architect III (B28): $92,600- $156,612 This position is for a Transportation Landscape Architect I, II or III. Serves as a lead worker for professional and technical employees engaged in developing and coordinating the implementation of landscape design projects. Work requires contact [and coordination with district/division staff], governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence. Essential Duties (All Levels): Analyzes and recommends approval for use of consultants and landscape contracts. Assists with research and analysis of incoming correspondence, reports and other written material relating to landscape programs. Coordinates with consultants, construction firms and governmental representatives to accurately depict project impacts. Develops training courses and materials. Performs architectural work in coordination with engineering and support associates. Responsible for complex landscape architectural projects from initiation to completion. Serves as a lead worker and trains others. Serves as an Americans with Disabilities Act consultant to the District. Trains less experienced Registered Landscape Architects and Landscape Architect Assistants. Travels/drives to make on-site reviews, inspections and analysis. Attends public forums and makes presentations on landscape architecture subject matter. Creates, maintains and updates GIS databases and cartographic products using the ESRI suite of ArcGIS software. Develops and reviews plans, specifications, estimates and special provisions pertaining to landscape projects and landscape items related to roadway construction projects. Reviews geographic data from various sources, including other state agencies, aerial imagery, existing maps, and databases. Evaluates new products and methods related to landscape projects. Inspects landscape development and establishment projects. May serve as an instructor for departmental courses. Monitors and reviews contract letting information for landscape projects. Oversees and coordinates administration of landscape programs or projects with public or private organizations, consultants, districts and divisions. Prepares and seals final plans, specifications, estimates and other necessary construction and contract documentation for letting. Provides schematic roadway designs and layouts for view corridors, valuable horticulture and salvageable vegetation and other landscape amenities. Provides support to landscape field personnel, divisions and districts on issues concerning landscape architecture. Represents the Department in meetings with local and state officials and the public. Reviews and evaluates departmental policies and procedures affecting landscape programs. Reviews and evaluates requests for public participation in landscape programs. Serves as a district or division program coordinator for landscape programs and projects. Serves on panels and committees related to landscape projects. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture Experience: Trans Landscape Architect I: No experience required Trans Landscape Architect II: 4 years of experience in Professional Landscape Architecture-related work Trans Landscape Architect III: 5 years of experience in Professional Landscape Architecture-related work (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent) Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. Must be registered as a Landscape Architect by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners Competencies: Construction phasing and sequencing Program/project planning, development, and management methodologies Contract development and management policies and procedures Landscape programs Landscape and vegetation management design including plans, specifications and estimates Product/method evaluation related to landscape and vegetation management projects Applicable governmental laws, rules and regulations specific to area of responsibility for safeguarding information and information technology related systems Design and plan preparation methods and requirements Applicable inspection methods, procedures and techniques Competitive bid processes, rules and regulations Botany, soils, climate and various construction methods Applicable laws, rules, and regulations Americans with Disabilities Act, modifications and requirements including accessibility standards Utilities such as water and electrical services Handling multiple tasks and projects Reviewing plans for accuracy and ensuring compliance with requirements Planning, assigning, directing, coordinating and reviewing the work of professional, administrative and technical employees Leading, assigning, reviewing, and monitoring the work of others Speaking to present images and ideas in a clear, concise, organized, and interesting manner to optimize audience understanding and keep the group focused Researching, analyzing, and interpreting policies and state and federal laws and regulations specific to functional area Monitoring the status and progress of projects Prioritizing projects/workload and meeting deadlines Interpreting applicable information Public relations for maintaining effective working relationships with individuals and groups, both internal and external Evaluating products, equipment and material Analyzing and organizing business and technical data Training in a classroom, office, or field environment Developing and giving presentations Using computers, applicable programs, applications, and systems Exercises logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; makes decisions that support business objectives and goals Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Subject to environmental conditions; protection from weather but not temperature changes Subject to outside environmental conditions; no effective weather protection Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions Subject to extreme cold and heat; below 32 and/or above 100 degrees for more than one hour Subject to noise Subject to vibration Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools Conditions of Employment: Please read the Standard Conditions of Employment (TxDOT) for all positions.
