This Staff Accountant role focuses on supporting the month-end close process, preparing and posting journal entries, and performing detailed account reconciliations in a dynamic, data-intensive environment. The position requires a strong accounting foundation, comfort working with large and sometimes unstructured data sets, and the ability to provide accurate reporting that supports forecasting and leadership decision-making. You will collaborate closely with a supportive, team-oriented group and contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end close process, beginning with the June close, by completing assigned tasks accurately and on time.
• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures.
• Perform account reconciliations for key accounts, including accrued liabilities, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Handle a high volume of accounting data and manual entries, ensuring accuracy and completeness in complex, detail-heavy processes.
• Review and interpret accounting data received from ships and other less-structured sources, resolving discrepancies and applying sound judgment to non-standard inputs.
• Complete post-close reconciliations and follow up on any variances or issues to ensure the integrity of financial records.
• Generate reports used for forecasting and provide accurate, timely deliverables to leadership and other stakeholders.
• Use Excel tools such as VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables to analyze data, support reconciliations, and streamline reporting.
• Leverage ERP systems, preferably PeopleSoft, to process transactions, run reports, and maintain accurate general ledger records.
• Collaborate with team members to share information, resolve issues, and continuously improve accounting processes.
• Provide backup support across the accounting team as needed to ensure coverage and continuity of operations.
• Ramp up quickly on new systems, processes, and data sources, and operate independently once trained.

This is a Contract position based out of Miramar, FL.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.

This is a hybrid position in Miramar,FL.
