Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Stepdown Cardiac Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a relevant specialty License: Valid state nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, EKG Must-Have: Strong PCU background within the last year EPIC experience is preferred Weekend availability: Every other weekend Description: No Thanksgiving RTO. The position is for a traveler contracted to the emergency department unit, specifically to care for inpatient and CICU level holds. Years of experience required: 2 years. ED experience preferred but not required. First-timers accepted with EPIC experience and 2 years of experience. No first-timers accepted with only 1 year of experience. Weekend requirements include every other weekend. Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and passing an EKG test upon arrival. The role includes expectations for floating to similar units. Assistance with patient sitting, ensuring patients match clinical assignments. Common patient diagnoses include chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, and pneumonia. Will also care for medical, surgical, trauma, oncology, and orthopedic patients as overflow. Candidates will see post-cath patients with stent only (no CABG), ICD/pacer insertions, and cardioversions. The unit manages and titrates drips, with the most common being Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labatolol, Dopamine, and Dobutamine. Special equipment utilized includes BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, and a monitoring system. Staffing and scheduling involve accommodating patient ratios and floating as needed. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Candidates must have experience in care for ventilated patients, chest tubes, blood product administration, and interpretation of arterial blood gases. Other skills include management of dysrhythmias, telemetry, and wound care.
