Facilities Technician

**I. ** POSITION SUMMARY

**** This position is responsible for maintaining the cooperative’s facilities and grounds in a clean, neat and orderly fashion.

**II. ** REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

**** A. Reports to: Facilities Manager

Required Skills

**III. ** MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Proficiently uses basic power tools and maintenance equipment.

B. Performs repairs and maintenance on buildings, grounds and equipment that includes but is not limited to electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and painting.

C. Completes facilities service tickets and meeting setup requests.

D. Performs general cleaning of the facilities including but not limited to cleaning bathrooms and breakrooms, trash removal, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing fixtures, glass cleaning and floor care.

E. Clean all ceilings, light fixtures, air vents, exhaust vents, smoke alarms, walls, etc.

F. Maintain and refill all office dispensers including soap, paper towel, toilet paper, and air fresheners.

G. Maintain and stock all breakrooms and customer service areas with beverages and supplies.

H. Keep inventory of equipment and supplies and inform the Facilities Manager of replacement and restocking needs.

I. Performs landscaping, including but not limited to cuts and trims grass, trims shrubbery and sees that the office grounds are maintained in good condition.

J. Clean and maintain all HVAC, electrical, and storage closets.

K. Perform floor care including but not limited to stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing.

L. Maintain and use floor care power equipment.

M. Performs facilities routine preventative maintenance and inspections of buildings, equipment, and grounds.

N. Assist with performing renovations as requested by the Facilities Manager to include painting and refinishing floors.

O. Be responsible for all tools and equipment assigned.

P. Assist in seeing that all doors and gates are secured at the end of each normal workday.

Q. Performs other duties and/or assignments as may be directed by the Facilities Manager.

R. Observes all safety rules.

Required Experience

**V. ** POSITION REQUIREMENTS

******Job Knowledge, Training, and Experience: **A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance.

**Equipment Operated: **Must be able to operate maintenance and cleaning equipment assigned.

**Abilities and Skills: **Must be able to perform the activities necessary to complete work assignments described in the position description. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, other cooperative personnel, and the public. Must have the ability to communicate, verbally and in written form in English. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License.

**Physical Effort: **Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 60 lbs. Must be able to continuously stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs or ladders. Must be able to maintain a steady, active pace in all weather conditions for 4-8 hours, covering significant distances in a shift.

**Working Conditions: **Inside and outside work in all kinds of weather. Some overtime may be required.

After an offer of employment has been made, a physical examination will be required which will include both drug and alcohol testing.
