Security Specialist
Duties
Develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures to safeguard national security information, ensuring compliance with directives from the DOD, NSA, and other governing bodies.
Maintains liaison with higher headquarters, intelligence branches, and other federal organizations to clarify policy, coordinate security support, and ensure threat assessments are properly analyzed and disseminated.
Oversees all aspects of Traditional Security (TRADSEC), Physical Security (PHYSEC), Access Control Systems (ACS), and Protection Distribution Systems (PDS) to ensure a secure operating environment.
Manages the lifecycle of classified information, including its reproduction, storage, dissemination, and destruction, and oversees access to cryptographic materials and controlled devices.
Develops resources for and conducts Communication Security (COMSEC) Staff Assistance Visits, command inspections, and training to ensure the execution of secure communications, identify vulnerabilities, and implement corrective actions.
Represents the command as a technical expert on security committees, provides guidance on resolving conflicting security requirements, and advises leadership on all COMSEC related issues.
