Audiologist (Full or Part Time)

Overview RICHLAND COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT ONE – COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA. AUDIOLOGIST. FLSA: NON-EXEMPT. 220 days. Salary Range: $71,886.14 - $93,199.57 (Full-Time); $35,943.07 - $49,599.786 (Part-Time). General Statement of Job Under limited supervision, provides professional services to screen, identify, evaluate and facilitate instruction for students with hearing disorders. Serves as a member of the educational team in the evaluation, planning and placement process. Reports to the Director or Coordinator as assigned. Responsibilities Evaluates hearing abilities to establish auditory skill development. Writes evaluation reports and interprets audiological information for educational implications. Recommends appropriate instructional modifications and accommodations. Determines hearing function in various communication and learning settings. Monitors, requests and manages equipment needs of students identified and placed in a program for students with disabilities. Selects and fits appropriate assistive amplification devices. Monitors the proper fit and functioning of hearing aids, cochlear implants, individual and classroom amplification, and assistive listening devices. Provides in-service/staff development as requested for district personnel, parents and students; educates parents, students and school personnel about hearing conservation. Informs Director and/or coordinator of short‑ and long‑range needs of the program on an annual basis or as requested. Recommends/requests purchase of new audiological, auditory training, and assisted equipment; negotiates maintenance contracts and maintains equipment inventory. Maintains information as required for SDE audit. Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate. Complies with applicable state and federal laws and standard operating procedures for the Office of Programs for the Handicapped. Maintains required student and district records. Performs various office duties as necessary (preparing reports, correspondence, compiling data, attending meetings, copying/filing, answering phone, etc.). Operates machinery and equipment (computer, printer, typewriter, calculator, copier, telephone, audiometer, sound level meters, hearing aid analyzer, earmold syringe, impedance, tape recorder, specialized tools, learning aids, etc.). Additional Job Functions Performs related duties as required. Minimum Training and Experience Requires a Master’s degree in audiology and completion of one year of a clinical fellowship under the supervision of a licensed audiologist, plus six to nine years of experience working with the hearing impaired, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and ability. Special Requirements Must possess certification to meet State and Southern Association standards; must be a licensed audiologist.
