Required Skills & Experience• Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience Federal, mission critical, or large civil commercial experience works (Residential experience will not work) • OSHA 30 required • Working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 preferred • Experience with field inspections, AHAs/pre-task planning, subcontractor oversight, corrective actions, excavation, heavy equipment, lifting, traffic control, and similar field hazards

Nice to Have Skills & Experience• Heavy-civil, linear infrastructure, roadway, utility, pipeline, or similar construction experience preferred • Federal construction experience preferred but not required

Job DescriptionThe Field Safety Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) with the day-to-day implementation and enforcement of project safety requirements. This individual will spend the majority of their time in the field actively monitoring construction activities, identifying potential hazards, and working with subcontractors and field teams to maintain a safe jobsite.

Day to day: • Maintain an active presence in the field, observing ongoing construction activities and identifying potential safety hazards or unsafe work practices. • Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and document observations, deficiencies, and corrective actions. • Work directly with subcontractor crews and field supervision to ensure compliance with project safety requirements and established safety procedures. • Monitor high-risk construction activities and verify appropriate safety controls and PPE are being utilized. • Assist with daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, pre-task planning, and job hazard analyses. • Support the investigation and documentation of safety incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. • Track identified safety deficiencies and follow up with field teams and subcontractors to ensure corrective actions are completed. • Assist with maintaining required safety documentation, inspection records, reports, and other project safety materials. • Reinforce a proactive safety culture by coaching field personnel and addressing unsafe conditions before they result in incidents. • Provide additional field coverage as construction activities expand across different areas of the project.
