Medical Assistant-Certified

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) provides clinical and administrative support in an outpatient clinic setting, primarily in cardiology. This role involves performing vital sign measurements, preparing patients for exams, administering injections, conducting laboratory tests, and managing office duties. The MA-C collaborates closely with healthcare providers and staff to ensure efficient patient flow and quality care. Candidates must hold a current MA-C certification and have reliable transportation. This is a temporary to permanent position with a schedule primarily Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with potential floating between clinic locations as needed. Responsibilities:

• Obtain vital signs including height, weight, pulse oximetry, and 12-lead EKG/ECG.
• Prepare patients for exams by positioning, draping, and recording history, medications, and allergies.
• Administer immunizations and medications as directed.
• Perform blood glucose testing via glucometer.
• Assist with chart preparation and stocking clinical supplies.
• Conduct telephone triage and follow-up phone calls.
• Room patients and support clinical staff throughout patient visits.
• Float between designated clinic locations to cover staffing needs when required.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential (no MA-R, MA-P, or MA-HT allowed).
• Minimum 6 months experience as an MA-C in adult/pediatric outpatient clinics preferred, cardiology experience preferred.
• Proficient in obtaining vital signs and performing EKGs.
• Ability to administer injections and perform basic laboratory tests.
• Experience with EPIC charting system preferred.
• Reliable personal transportation (public transportation not acceptable).

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in cardiology outpatient settings.
• Familiarity with telephone triage and patient follow-up procedures.
• Experience working in multiple clinic locations or floating roles.

Special Considerations:

• Position is temp-to-perm with expectation to join clinic permanently if performance is satisfactory.
• Local and non-local candidates within Washington State considered; local candidates preferred for perm placement.
• Must have reliable personal transportation; public transportation is not acceptable.
• Floating to other clinic locations may be required but not daily.
• No weekend or on-call shifts required.
• Adherence to clinic dress code: solid dark scrubs with no prints.

Scheduling:

• Primary schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
• Tuesday shifts (7:30 AM to 4:00 PM) may be available to cover schedule gaps.
• Shift times may vary slightly depending on clinic start times and floating assignments.
• Weekends off; no on-call responsibilities.
