Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking a Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater to support the delivery of infrastructure projects from initial planning and design through construction and commissioning. This role will involve working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with agreed technical, financial, and programme requirements. You will contribute to the development of practical engineering solutions for water and wastewater systems, including treatment facilities, pumping stations, pipelines, storage infrastructure, and associated civil and mechanical works.


Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing technical specifications, drawings, calculations, reports, and tender documentation; coordinating design activities across multiple disciplines; monitoring project progress, costs, risks, and quality; and providing technical support during procurement and construction. You will attend site visits and progress meetings, review contractor submissions, assist with resolving technical issues, and help ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, health and safety requirements, and environmental obligations. The role may also involve supporting feasibility studies, asset assessments, stakeholder engagement, commissioning activities, and the preparation of project documentation for handover.


Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, mechanical, or water engineering, together with relevant experience delivering water or wastewater projects. Experience with project coordination, design review, construction supervision, and contract administration would be advantageous. Familiarity with industry standards, regulatory requirements, risk management, and engineering software is expected, while experience with wastewater treatment processes, hydraulic systems, or infrastructure rehabilitation would be beneficial. Strong communication, organisation, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively. A proactive approach, attention to detail, and commitment to technical excellence, safety, and sustainable outcomes are also required. A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to project and construction sites may be necessary.
