Senior Engineer - Water/Wastewater

We are seeking a Senior Engineer - Water/Wastewater to lead the delivery of complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through to completion. This role will involve providing technical leadership, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable standards, regulations, and client requirements. You will contribute to the planning, design, assessment, and implementation of projects such as water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, pipelines, reservoirs, and associated infrastructure.


Key responsibilities include developing and reviewing technical designs, specifications, calculations, drawings, reports, and tender documentation; managing design interfaces and technical risks; and supporting project planning, cost control, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover activities. You will work closely with clients, contractors, consultants, regulators, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues and maintain project progress. The role will also include mentoring junior engineers, reviewing deliverables, contributing to bids and proposals, and identifying opportunities to improve engineering quality, sustainability, and operational performance. Occasional site visits and travel may be required.


Applicants should hold a degree in civil, environmental, chemical, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline, with substantial experience in the water or wastewater sector. Professional registration or chartered status, or a clear pathway toward achieving it, is desirable. You will have a strong understanding of relevant design codes, health and safety requirements, environmental legislation, and industry best practice. Experience with hydraulic modelling, treatment process design, infrastructure delivery, or asset management would be advantageous. Strong communication, organisation, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills are essential, together with the ability to take ownership of technical work while collaborating effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
