Senior Water/Wastewater Process Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Water/Wastewater Process Engineer to lead the development and delivery of innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions. This role will support projects from feasibility and concept design through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and operational handover. You will provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that process solutions are safe, efficient, sustainable, compliant with relevant standards, and aligned with client and project requirements.


Key responsibilities will include developing process design criteria, mass balances, process flow diagrams, hydraulic profiles, equipment specifications, control philosophies, and technical reports. You will undertake process modelling, option assessments, technology evaluations, and design reviews, while coordinating interfaces with civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and environmental disciplines. The role will also involve preparing and reviewing calculations, drawings, schedules, tender documentation, and commissioning plans. You will contribute to project planning, cost and programme management, risk assessments, client meetings, technical presentations, and the mentoring of less experienced engineers. Occasional site visits may be required to support investigations, construction activities, commissioning, and performance testing.


Applicants should hold a degree in chemical, environmental, civil, or process engineering, together with substantial experience delivering water or wastewater treatment projects. Strong knowledge of treatment processes such as activated sludge, biological nutrient removal, membrane systems, clarification, filtration, disinfection, sludge treatment, and water reuse is highly desirable. Experience with relevant design standards, regulatory requirements, process modelling software, and industry guidance is expected. Professional registration or progress toward registration will be advantageous. You should be commercially aware, confident communicating with clients and contractors, and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high standard of technical quality.
