General Laborer – Insulation Support

Join a construction team supporting mechanical insulation projects throughout the Ames, Ankeny, and Des Moines metro area. In this role, you'll assist with installing insulation on pipes, ducts, and other mechanical systems while learning from experienced insulators in a safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of insulation on pipes, ducts, and mechanical systems.
• Clean and prepare surfaces for insulation application.
• Measure, cut, and fit insulation materials to specifications.
• Transport, organize, and maintain materials, tools, and equipment.
• Support experienced insulators with installation and site tasks.
• Perform job site cleanup and maintain safe, organized work areas.
• Safely operate hand and power tools.
• Follow safety procedures and PPE requirements at all times.
• Travel to job sites throughout the Ames, Ankeny, and Des Moines area.

Required Qualifications

• Construction or general labor experience.
• Experience using hand tools such as tape measures, aviation snips, and channel locks.
• Ability to safely use power tools.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
• Strong measuring and material-cutting skills.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including standing, bending, and lifting throughout the day.
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

• Insulation installation experience.
• Familiarity with mechanical systems, pipes, and ductwork.
• Team-oriented mindset.
• Interest in advancement into supervisory roles.

Schedule & Environment

• Construction job sites in the Ames, Ankeny, and Des Moines metro area
• Indoor and outdoor work environments
• Required PPE including steel-toe boots, hard hat, safety glasses, and high-visibility clothing
• Must provide steel-toe boots, tape measure, red aviation snips, and small channel locks
• Flexible start and end times within standard construction schedules

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Johnston, IA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
