Lead Project Manager, Transmission (Hybrid Schedule)

Lead Project Manager, Transmission Westwood, MA. This role leads innovative Transmission Line and Substation projects and acts as the primary advisor to a group of Transmission project managers, ensuring successful execution of a statewide project portfolio. You will independently manage and advise other project managers on high‑risk, high‑profile transmission projects in Massachusetts, ensuring all phases of approved projects are completed efficiently and within scope, on schedule, and within budget. Essential Functions Develop and mentor associate project managers and project managers to resolve project challenges and achieve high‑value results. Participate in the development and execution of regional annual budgets, initiatives, and goals. Keep management informed and provide feedback on portfolio status and project management development. Provide feedback to project managers and assist management in performance evaluation processes. Act on behalf of the manager in their absence as assigned. Lead traditional projects requiring close stakeholder interaction such as large substation construction projects, new transmission line projects, major transmission facility expansions, or projects of high complexity. Identify emerging issues and recommend appropriate actions/projects that produce shareholder value and meet internal and external customer needs. Perform high‑level independent management of projects, capable of managing projects from initiation to closeout on time and within budget. Manage projects that are multi‑disciplinary, multi‑stakeholder, and high financial risk exposure, requiring management reporting communications. Take necessary action to ensure the project portfolio is completed efficiently, on time and within the established budget. Work closely with Eversource Energy Delivery personnel, Legal, Regulatory Relations, Purchasing, Communications and all Transmission Business functions to ensure project success. Integrate and manage a cross‑functional project team to develop appropriate project roles and responsibilities. Manage planning, engineering, siting/permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning and closeout project phases. Develop a comprehensive project plan, schedule, communications plan and establish the change control methodology. Execute the project plan and manage the project change control process. Coordinate the development of a detailed project budget and cash flow. Maintain and report monthly project scope, budgets and schedules. Develop a comprehensive siting and permitting needs assessment. Develop and participate in required regulatory siting, permit filings and other regulatory filings. Coordinate environmental assessment and necessary regulatory approvals (federal, state and local) needed to begin construction. Ensure timely preparation of ISO‑NE project submittals. Develop and evaluate bid documents for engineering, design, construction and test procurement of materials and support systems. Develop required outage and energization plans. Prepare long‑term outage plan project submittals on time. Close out projects in a timely manner to support corporate business goals. Provide clear, concise and comprehensive reports for management. Provide expert witness testimony for assigned projects at ISO‑NE, CSC and other regulatory proceedings. Technical Knowledge and Skills Investigate and solve problems, analyze data, write reports and make presentations. Cope with deadlines, manage time, set priorities, define roles and responsibilities, and make decisions. Run meetings, motivate others, and interact with all levels of the organization. Schedule, plan and manage numerous complex transmission projects concurrently. Self‑starter with strong communication skills, including listening, speaking and writing. Leadership abilities, planning skills, decisiveness and customer focus. Knowledge of Project Management principles and practices. Excellent leadership, team‑building, coaching, problem‑solving, interpersonal and motivational skills. Develop skills to prepare presentations and expert witness testimony for local and state regulatory presentations. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred) or a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or the equivalent. Master’s Degree preferred; Project Management class work desirable. Experience Ten (10) years of Project Management experience. Licenses & Certifications Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License required. Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI) preferred. Salary is commensurate with experience and the position is eligible for a potential incentive. The annual salary range is $151,100.00 – $167,890.00.
