Role Description The Family Law Paralegal is a full-time, on-site position based in Jacksonville, FL. This role supports attorneys in all aspects of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and related proceedings. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and organizing legal documents and pleadings, drafting correspondence, maintaining case files, and managing deadlines and court dates. The paralegal will conduct legal and factual research, review discovery materials, and assist with preparation for hearings, mediations, and trials. The role also involves regular communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel, collecting and organizing case information, and ensuring accurate entry and maintenance of data in the firm’s case management systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with sensitive and confidential information.
Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in family law and general Law principles, with experience supporting divorce, custody, and support matters.
  • Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting pleadings, discovery requests/responses, financial affidavits, and correspondence.
  • Excellent Communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, court personnel, and opposing counsel in a professional, empathetic manner.
  • Solid Research and Document Review abilities, including analyzing case materials, statutes, and court rules to support case strategy.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of family law paralegal experience in a law firm or similar setting preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate, associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Advanced organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with legal practice management software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and electronic filing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, show sound judgment, and work effectively as part of a legal team.
