Commercial Construction Superintendent Location: Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex Position: Full-Time, On-Site Base Salary: $95,000–$125,000, depending on experience About Cattlemen Construction Services Cattlemen Construction Services is a Texas-based commercial construction partner specializing in general contracting, construction management, preconstruction, and owner’s representation. Role Description The Commercial Construction Superintendent is responsible for leading daily field operations from mobilization through closeout. This position coordinates subcontractors and vendors, manages site schedules and logistics, enforces quality and safety requirements, coordinates inspections, and serves as Cattlemen’s primary on-site representative. This is a hands‑on field leadership role. We need someone who anticipates issues, makes sound decisions, holds subcontractors accountable, and keeps the project moving—not someone who simply observes the work and reports problems to the project manager. Once familiar with Cattlemen’s systems, the superintendent will be trusted to independently direct and resequence subcontractors, resolve routine field conflicts, reject deficient work, coordinate inspections, and communicate field and schedule decisions to the project team. The position will primarily support projects throughout DFW, with travel as needed for short-term projects in other markets. Key Responsibilities Lead daily field operations from mobilization through project completion. Direct, coordinate, and sequence subcontractors and vendors. Maintain the overall project schedule and detailed three‑week look‑ahead schedules. Coordinate manpower, deliveries, equipment, inspections, access, and site logistics. Identify delays, constraints, procurement concerns, and field conflicts early. Develop and communicate recovery plans when work falls behind. Lead subcontractor coordination and progress meetings. Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs before work is installed. Inspect work in progress and require correction of deficient or noncompliant work. Champion jobsite safety and enforce Cattlemen’s requirements and applicable OSHA standards. Coordinate building, fire, utility, health, environmental, and other required inspections. Maintain accurate daily reports, progress photographs, inspection records, and project documentation. Identify and document potential change conditions before additional work proceeds whenever possible. Communicate timely field updates, risks, and proposed solutions to the project manager. Maintain an organized, secure, and professional jobsite. Manage punch‑list activities and support testing, commissioning, turnover, and closeout. Use Procore and other Cattlemen systems consistently. Work Experience Candidates should have approximately 5–10 years of commercial construction field experience , including experience as a lead superintendent or primary on‑site field leader. Candidates must have personally supervised commercial projects from mobilization through closeout and should demonstrate experience with: Ground‑up commercial construction. Commercial tenant finish‑outs or remodels. Sitework, underground utilities, paving, and civil scopes. MEP‑intensive commercial construction. Municipal inspections and utility coordination. Project punch list, turnover, and closeout. Experience with fuel stations, convenience retail, restaurants, public construction, or occupied‑site renovations is strongly preferred. Candidates should be prepared to discuss specific projects they personally supervised, their responsibilities, challenges encountered, and final results. Qualifications Strong understanding of commercial construction means, methods, and sequencing. Ability to independently manage daily field operations. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings. Ability to develop and manage short‑term construction schedules. Proven ability to direct subcontractors and enforce commitments professionally. Strong quality‑control instincts and willingness to reject deficient work. Practical problem‑solving skills and sound judgment regarding when an issue requires escalation. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Strong organization, documentation, and follow‑through. Comfortable using digital drawings, tablets, email, and cloud‑based construction‑management systems. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to assigned project sites. Ability to meet the physical demands of an active commercial construction site. Preferred Qualifications Procore experience. OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR certifications. Experience with construction scheduling software. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field. Equivalent commercial construction experience will also be considered. Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills. Experience working for a growing general contractor where team members carry meaningful responsibility. What Success Looks Like Within six months, the successful superintendent will demonstrate that: Assigned projects operate without daily involvement from company ownership. Schedules are actively managed and clearly communicated. Subcontractors are coordinated, supported, and held accountable. Field problems and quality concerns are identified before they create avoidable delays or rework. Safety, housekeeping, and project documentation consistently meet Cattlemen’s expectations. Clients, inspectors, and trade partners view the superintendent as a capable and professional Cattlemen representative. The project manager receives timely information and is not surprised by preventable field issues. Cattlemen can confidently take on additional work because dependable field capacity has been created. The overall compensation package may also include a vehicle allowance, project‑based fuel card, performance‑based bonus, paid time off, paid holidays, health‑insurance contribution, and company‑provided technology.
