Responsibilities

– Obtain and record vital signs, including height, weight, pulse oximetry, and vision testing. – Prepare patients for exams by recording medical histories, medications, and allergies. – Assist with procedures such as nebulizer treatments and injections, including immunizations and intramuscular shots. – Collect specimens such as throat swabs, urine samples, and perform lab tests like blood glucose, pregnancy tests, strep, and urinalysis. – Perform office duties including stocking supplies and maintaining clinical areas. – Administer medications, perform ear lavage, and assist with rooming patients. – Operate specialized equipment and chart patient data using electronic health records, specifically EPIC. – Support clinicians during patient exams and procedures, ensuring smooth clinic flow.

Required Skills

– Proven experience of at least 6 months working as a Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) in an adult and pediatric outpatient setting. – Proficiency in obtaining vital signs such as height, weight, and pulse oximetry. – Ability to perform 12-lead EKG/ECG and vision testing. – Skilled in preparing patients for exams and recording medical histories. – Experience in setting up and assisting with various procedures, including nebulizer treatments and injections. – Competence in specimen collection and labeling. – Ability to perform laboratory testing, including blood glucose, pregnancy, strep, and urinalysis. – Strong office skills, including stocking supplies and maintaining clinical environments. – Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to assist with medication administration and ear lavage. – Familiarity with electronic health records, especially EPIC.

Additional Skills & Requirements

– Must have valid Medical Assistant-Certified licensure, with a compact license preferred. – Prior outpatient clinic experience in an urgent care environment is required. – Ability to work 12-hour shifts on established schedules, including weekends, with reliability and transportation. – Experience working in a fast-paced clinical setting is highly desired. – Must be flexible to work a schedule that includes weekends and holidays, and be willing to commit to a 4-day workweek. – Local candidates within a 50-mile radius of Edmonds, WA are preferred, with travel candidates considered if within the specified area. – Candidates should have at least one year of healthcare experience, with references covering the last 3 years. – The role does not involve any required on-call duties, but weekend work is mandatory. – Knowledge of EPIC charting is required; training on the system will be provided if necessary.
