Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Oncology

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Oncology provides specialized nursing care to adult patients with cancer and complex medical-surgical conditions. Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, this role is responsible for assessing patient needs, administering treatments, monitoring patient progress, and delivering compassionate, evidence-based care throughout the treatment and recovery process.

The ideal candidate will have oncology nursing experience, strong clinical assessment skills, and the ability to manage patients with diverse medical and surgical needs in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Assignment Details

• Location: Olympia, WA
• Facility: Providence Saint Peter Hospital
• Start Date: 06/30/2026
• Contract Length: 13 Weeks
• Pay Rate: $50/hr ($1,800/week gross based on 36 hours)
• Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to medical-surgical and oncology patients
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
• Administer medications, blood products, chemotherapy-related treatments, and other prescribed therapies as appropriate
• Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes in clinical status
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR/EHR)
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and infection control practices
• Support patients through treatment, recovery, and end-of-life care when applicable

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Minimum 1 year of Oncology Nursing experience
• BLS Certification required
• OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) preferred/required as specified by facility
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Experience caring for oncology patients in an acute care hospital setting
• Familiarity with chemotherapy administration and oncology treatment protocols
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EMR) systems
