Drainage Engineer

Engineer PositionRK&K is currently hiring an Engineer to join our growing Water Resources team in Richmond VA. This is an excellent opportunity for you to take the next step in your career. On our Water Resources team, you will support multiple V DOT and municipal projects, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals throughout our entire company.Types of water resources projects include, but are not limited to:Closed storm system analysis and open channel designsStormwater management facility designErosion and sediment control designGreen infrastructure designRiverine system hydraulics & hydrologyFloodplain analysis, mapping, and flood mitigationWatershed planning and studiesEssential FunctionsDeliver world class solutions to our existing portfolio of public/private sector water resources customersProactively deliver a wide range of water resource projects in accordance with the scope, schedule, and budget set by the Project ManagerProvide excellent client services with a focus on quality and timelinessReport to a Senior Project Manager; meet and work directly with other design team members, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clientsProvide office and site visit support for assigned and prospective projectsAssist with the development of necessary documentation and preliminary modeling, analysis, and due diligence in support of project pursuitsPerform modeling of complex riverine systems and existing watersheds / storm sewer networks, and develop recommended improvement alternativesPrepare clear and concise drainage reports and hydraulic memoranda documenting analysis approach, findings, and recommendationsAssist with civil engineering plans development using AutoDesk Civil3D, MicroStation, and GIS.Proactively grow in experience to lead tasks.Required Skills and ExperienceMinimum of a bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Biological Systems EngineeringProficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, Teams)Coursework in Fluid Mechanics, Water Resources Engineering, and/or Urban Hydraulics and HydrologyExperience with Autcad Civil3D and/or Microstation /ORDOne (1) – Three (3) years of experience in water resources engineeringKnowledge of commonly used hydrologic and hydraulic computational methodologies and analysis tools/trendsStrong organizational, written and verbal communication skills requiredStrong attention to detailAbility to work both collaboratively/in a team environment and independentlyPreferred Skills and ExperienceExperience with BMP routing software such as PondpackExperience with hydraulic design software such as HY-8 and EnsoftecExperience performing field work for in support of various water resources projectsExperience with ArcGIS and ESRI softwareProject experience related to hydraulic analysis of riverine systems and culvert/bridge stream crossingsFloodplain analysis utilizing HEC-RAS softwareHydrologic analysis utilizing HEC-HMS softwareEngineer in Training (EIT)Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
