This position serves as a member of the Terry Development & Alumni Relations (TDAR) leadership team, collaborating across departmental lines within TDAR and across organizational lines within University Development, to align priorities and maintain a donor-centered approach to fundraising. Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Provide leadership, direction and vision for Terry's Philanthropy Team
- Provide guidance on major and principal gift proposal development, donor communications, and solicitations.
- Lead all aspects of management and HR matters for the team.
- Manage state and foundation budgets. Maintain fiscal responsibility through budget setting and monthly review, travel approvals and expense review
- Manage, direct, and provide leadership to a professional team of Philanthropy Officers (major and principal gift fundraisers) to ensure each team member properly manages their individual portfolios of 100+ major and principal gift prospects.
- Ensure all UGA, UGA Foundation, and TCOB policies and procedures are followed by the Philanthropy Officers.
- Set individual fundraising goals for Philanthropy Officers, manage performance throughout the year to achieve those goals, and conduct performance reviews annually.
- Identify areas of strength and weakness for each Philanthropy Officer and develop individual annual strategies to develop areas of weakness and utilize or share areas of strength.
- Work with both TDAR's and Central Development's support teams (such as Donor Relations, Prospect Management, and Alumni Relations) to develop programs and tools that optimize fundraising and fundraiser performance.
- Manage, direct, and provide leadership to the Director of Donor Relations to ensure he/she properly:
- Develops personalized stewardship efforts for TCOB's top donors
- Coordinates with Central Development on stewardship effort organized at a campus-wide level
- Coordinate naming opportunities at the College
- Supervise the Director of Donor Relations in his/her oversight of the Endowment Coordinator to ensure he/she properly coordinates:
- New Fund Agreement process
- TCOB-wide scholarship awarding process
- Collection of data to meaningfully steward donors with endowed funds at TCOB
- Endowed funds available for use
- Partnership with Terry Business and administration Office, Office of Student Financial Aid, Student Veterans Resource Center, etc. as needed
- Implement and continually refine the liaison function, bringing together all functions of TDAR, with Terry College departments and programs to work together identify and increase funding opportunities.
- Assist with advisory boards, collateral development, strategic proposals, and campaign execution.
- Host annual meetings between TDAR and each liaison area.
50 Duties/Responsibilities Portfolio Management
- Develop and manage a portfolio of 30+ major ($50K+ gift size) and principal ($1M+ gift size) gift prospects, meeting annual fundraising goals, including face-to-face meetings, solicitations, and gifts closed.
- Move prospective donors through the stages of the development cycle (qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship) demonstrating leadership in effective, donor-centered fundraising and portfolio management strategies.
- Prepare timely, accurate, and relevant proposals, and other fundraising materials for potential donors, and communicate with prospective donors through strategic use of a variety of methods.
- Record donor engagement, interactions and plans in the giving and alumni database (GAIL) in a thorough and timely manner and demonstrate leadership to the team in doing so effectively.
- Collaborate with University fundraisers on shared prospects, providing expertise on Terry fundraising priorities and integrating Terry's interests and priorities into an overall prospect fundraising strategy that is donor- and University-centered.
30 Duties/Responsibilities Serve as a senior leader of Terry Development and Alumni Relations team.
- Serve as member of the TDAR Leadership Cabinet, ensuring TDAR's functions remain coordinated to maximize fundraising and engagement efforts.
- Support Dean and Sr. Director of TDAR in development of annual fundraising goals, priorities, and strategic plans.
- Support Dean and Sr. Director in setting annual goals, vision, strategy, affecting fundraising goals and engagement strategy.
- Support S. Director in bi-annual planning meetings and team-wide retreats to set/monitor TDAR annual goals and review the college's strategic plan.
- Serve as first point of reference for team members for guidance and direction re: development strategy.
- Attend monthly TDAR leadership planning meetings.
- Attend monthly meetings with Dean, providing progress updates on college's strategic plan.
- Educate TDAR staff on UGA and Terry College's fundraising priorities each year. Share strategies, proposals, and materials for presenting these priorities to prospective donors.
