Credit Analyst

Credit AnalystThe Credit Analyst is responsible for evaluating customer creditworthiness, managing accounts receivable, minimizing bad debt exposure, and driving timely collection of outstanding balances. This role partners closely with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Finance to support profitable revenue growth while maintaining established credit risk standards.Duties and ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and approve customer credit applications within assigned authority limitsReview financial statements, credit reports, trade references, and payment history to assess riskEstablish, modify, or recommend customer credit limits and payment termsMonitor customer accounts for changes in financial condition and payment performanceManage a portfolio of customer accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding receivablesContact customers regarding overdue invoices through phone, email, and written correspondenceNegotiate payment arrangements while maintaining positive customer relationshipsInvestigate and resolve billing, pricing, deduction, and payment disputesMonitor aging reports and prioritize collection efforts on high-risk accountsCoordinate account escalations, holds, and release decisions in accordance with company policyMaintain accurate account notes and collection activities within ERP or CRM systemsPrepare reporting on aging, collections performance, bad debt exposure, and credit riskAssist with monthly reserve analysis and write-off recommendationsSupport cash application teams in resolving unapplied or disputed paymentsPartner with Sales teams to balance customer growth opportunities with acceptable risk levelsWork with Customer Service and Operations to resolve order, delivery, and invoice issues impacting collectionsCommunicate credit decisions and account status updates to internal stakeholdersSupport process improvement initiatives focused on reducing DSO and improving cash flowOther duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred or 2-5 years of experience in credit, collections, accounts receivable, or financial analysisStrong understanding of credit risk assessment and collection practicesProficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reporting toolsExperience with ERP systems and CMR SoftwareExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation abilitiesPreferred QualificationsExperience in wholesale distribution, manufacturing, construction, or HVAC distributionWork EnvironmentOffice Setting-Hybrid Schedule, working 2 days minimum at the office/branch a week. 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. estPhysical DemandSedentary – Lifting 0-10 pounds - OccasionalLight Lifting – 10-20 pounds - NeverModerate Lifting – 20 to 50 pounds - NeverHeavy Lifting – 50 to 100 pounds - NeverPulling/Pushing, Carrying - NeverReaching or working above shoulder - NeverWalking - OccasionalStanding - OccasionalSitting - ConstantStooping - NeverKneeling - NeverRepeated Bending - NeverClimbing - NeverDesk Work/Computer use/Telephone use - ConstantOperating a motor vehicle - NeverOperating a commercial vehicle - NeverOperating warehouse equipment, forklift, baseloid lift etc - NeverOther – Talk, Drive, visit customers etc. - OccasionalEEO StatementWatsco and its subsidiaries are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate on the basis of age, color, race, religion, disability, sex, or national origin.
