Family/Children’s Director

ABC (Altamahaw Baptist Church) is seeking an individual who deeply desires to establish a culture of family discipleship. We hope that whoever the Lord leads to this position will begin to build a ministry that engages, equips, and encourages kids and their families. The Children’s Director will play a key role in helping establish a foundation for long-term discipleship and church health as ABC seeks revitalization.

Title: Family/Children’s Director
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Full Time

Parsonage available is desired (3 bed, 1 bath).

Primary Responsibilities:
·      Create a fun and engaging environment that permits a focus on the Word of God for kids of all ages
·      Partner with and equip parents as they strive toward family discipleship.
·      Lead and appropriately “staff” the Children’s Ministry for Sunday morning and night gatherings.
·      Provide leadership of special events: Easter activities, VBS, Fall Festival, etc.
·      Establish avenues of community involvement.
·      Communicate with families and the greater community about events and services.
·      Teach and oversee the teaching of biblically faithful, gospel-centered lessons for children.
·      Ensure a safe and secure environment for all children, including adherence to church safety policies and procedures.
·      Recruit and train a team of volunteers.

Secondary Responsibilities:
·      Begin building relationships with middle and high school students.
·      Explore opportunities for future student ministry development.

Requirements:
·      Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Children/kids ministry (leading or serving).
·      Must have a heart for family discipleship involving kids and their families.
·      Has the ability to teach and articulate God’s Word to elementary-age kids.
·      Needs to be capable of recruiting and building a team of trained volunteers.
·      Willing to develop a mission and vision that coincides with the mission of the church.
·      Should be a “builder” more than a “maintainer.”
·      In full agreement with the Baptist Message 2000 and committed to teaching Scripture faithfully.

ABC is currently in the process of revitalization. This presents an opportunity for the Children’s Director to truly leave their unique, God-given, mark on the families of this community.

We are also a rural community. However, the greater region of NC continues to grow, with new subdivisions and communities being built just outside of the Altamahaw area—encroaching ever closer towards our quaint community.
