Openings as of 6/6/2026 7/8 ELA Teacher JobID: 1489 Date Posted: 5/27/2026 Fort Logan Northgate is seeking a dynamic individual to join our ELA team for the upcoming school year. The applicant must be collaborative, aware of current productive pedagogical practices and eager to impact young people. The candidate chosen will be focused on supporting students in a differentiated classroom setting. Candidates must believe that all students can learn, have excellent classroom management skills and a strong understanding of how data can help inform intentional planning. Qualifications for All Teaching Positions Must hold a Colorado Alternative, Provisional or Professional Teaching License with appropriate endorsement. Bachelor's degree or higher required from an accredited university or college. Completed a state approved Teacher Preparation Program or participation in an Alternative Teacher License program. Passed PRAXIS exam in Colorado or in a CDE approved state. General Expectations Demonstrated knowledge and skill regarding the components of effective instruction. Demonstrated knowledge of content and teaching methods in area(s) of teaching assignment. Demonstrated knowledge of developmental needs of students. Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills. Evidence of ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with school personnel, students and parents. Demonstrated understanding and empathy necessary for working with students. Key Result Areas and Attendance Responsibilities Instructional Planning Teach and instruct middle school students in reading and writing. Implement lesson plans designed by classroom teacher as well as work in conjunction with Language Arts and grade level team to develop lesson plans and teaching outlines using explicit instruction, with a focus on higher order thinking and rigor. Teach using various methodologies, including lectures, discussions, writing workshops, literacy circles, etc. Plan instruction consistent with the district-approved curriculum for assigned subject area(s)/grade level(s). Use formal and informal methods to assess the abilities and needs of students. Plan effective use of class time. Instructional Interaction (Teaching) Apply principles of teaching/learning to enhance student achievement. Utilize teaching methods that are appropriate for the objectives and learners. Modify instruction to meet student needs. Communicate effectively with learners. Provide for and maintain student involvement during instruction. Evaluation of Instruction Use the evaluation of student outcomes to measure the effectiveness of instruction. Communicate effectively student progress to student and parent/guardian. Instructional Management Attend to tasks in a manner that maximizes instruction. Maintain necessary student records. Assist in planning for appropriate use of volunteers/aides as assigned. Establish clear expectations for appropriate behavior. Establish conditions under which students exercise self-discipline, honesty, leadership and citizenship. Professional Responsibilities Participate in professional growth opportunities. Adhere to the code of ethics of the teaching professional of the State of Colorado. Recognize problems and actively contribute to their resolutions. Collaborate with others to fulfill responsibilities related to building and district goals and priorities. Demonstrate a concern for students' health and safety. Stays within department budget. General Accept and fulfill assigned responsibilities and duties in a prompt and efficient manner. Follow Board of Education policies, building procedures and any other rules, regulations or procedures that may be established by the District or Building administrations. Perform other duties as may be assigned by the building principal in accordance with District Policies. Physical Requirements May include, standing and walking for extended periods; bend, stoop, and lift materials; reach for supplies on high shelves; use manual dexterity for tasks like writing and using technology; communicate clearly and effectively with students; climb stairs in multi-level buildings. Clearance Must clear online background check and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Salary Placement on Licensed Teacher salary schedule based upon previous teaching experience and highest degree and college credits earned after student teaching was completed. Current Board approved Licensed Teacher Salary Schedule and Salary Placement Policy are available for review on our district website at The annual salary for this position will be determined by number of hours scheduled to work each day and number of days scheduled to work each year. The computed annual salary will be spread out in equal payments over 12 months. Sheridan School District employees are paid once a month on the 1st working day of the month that is not a weekend day or holiday. Benefits Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible to obtain district health benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and supplemental benefits.
