Position Summary The Social Work Supervisor will provide direct supervision and support to a team of Child Welfare Specialist IIs who investigate and assess the needs of children involved in reports of alleged abuse, neglect and/or dependency. The Social Work Supervisor provides feedback and guidance to staff to enhance their capabilities to perform efficiently. This position will require direct field work support and may be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet the needs of children and families. This position provides direct supervision, training, support, review, and evaluation of professional technical and para-professional staff involved in areas within Social Services. This position compiles reports and data to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures as well as assignment and monitoring of cases. This position provides feedback to staff to enhance their capabilities to perform efficiently. This role will be onsite at 720 E. 4th Street, Charlotte, NC 28202. Please note this position may require after hours (after 5:00 pm) and weekend work as needed. Key Responsibilities Review and approve investigative reports Guide the development and implementation of safety plans and initial family service agreements Monitor and evaluate casework of staff involved in child protection Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal child welfare regulations Provide training and ongoing professional development for staff Conduct regular team meetings and provide individual supervision Coordinate with other agencies and stakeholders for comprehensive child protection Handle complex cases and make critical decisions regarding child safety Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records Respond to emergencies and provide guidance on urgent cases Facilitate communication between caseworkers, families, and the legal system Conduct performance evaluations and manage staff performance issues Essential Functions Supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of technical and para-professional staff Guide the development and implementation of safety plans and initial family service agreements Consult with teams and staff on individual case assignments Develop procedures to meet department or program goals, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines. Reviews information with teams or staff members to provide guidance and direction in the delivery of services Establish performance objectives, conducts periodic reviews and monitor’s progress Review and audits staff cases and workloads to prioritize duties and referrals for new cases Complete monthly and quarterly program reports Provide consultation to staff in complex case situations, acute emergencies, or cases which require a high-level decision Communicate with and visit other public and private welfare agencies, hospitals and other institutions in order to exchange information and develop resources Seek additional sources to increase funding and expand services Review and analyze activity reports and statistics for continuous awareness of program operation May be required to staff shelters in the event of a disaster Minimum Qualifications Experience: Minimum of five years of social services or human services experience Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Health or related field Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?:Yes Licenses and Certifications Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License Requires County Driving Privileges Preferred Qualifications Master’s in social work or related degree preferred Previous investigative Social Work experience preferred Bilingual applicants with (Spanish and English) proficiency preferred. Will be required to pass the County’s Bilingual Assessment in order to receive a paid Bilingual Premium.
