Registered Nurse - CVICU

Job Description

Job Summary:
The Clinical Nurse in the CVICU provides expert, compassionate care to cardiac and postoperative patients within a high-acuity critical care environment. This role focuses on delivering evidence-based nursing practices, fostering patient safety, and supporting interdisciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and evaluate patient needs, applying critical thinking to develop individualized care plans.
• Administer complex treatments and monitor patient responses, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to facilitate understanding and coordinated care.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement and evaluate the plan of care, adjusting as needed for patient stability.
• Educate patients and caregivers on post-operative care, health promotion, and disease prevention strategies.
• Document all interventions, assessments, and patient responses accurately in accordance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

• Possess a valid NYS RN license and BLS certification.
• Have a minimum of 2 years of RN experience in open heart and cardiac care units.
• Demonstrate previous travel experience (1 year preferred for travel roles; not required for Per Diem).
• EPIC electronic health record experience highly preferred.
• Hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Associate degree may be considered with relevant experience or active BSN coursework.
