Job Summary Position: Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences Number of Vacancies: 1 Area of Consideration: Open to the Public Position Status: Full‑Time, Regular Tenure Track Pay Plan, Series & Grade: Commensurate with rank and experience Salary Range: Up to $106,680.00 (commensurate with rank and experience) Closing Date: Open Until Filled Location: 4200 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008 Anticipated Start Date: August 2026 Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses Conducting high‑quality research in collaboration with established departmental teams Developing and participating in externally funded research projects Performing academic duties, university service, and professional service Contributing to the department’s pursuit of NSA/DHS National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity designation and ABET accreditation Teaching or Training Experiences (Essential) Malware Analysis and Reverse Engineering Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing Digital Forensics and Cyber Investigations Cybersecurity Operation and Incident Management Cyber‑Physical System and Blockchain Security Additional Responsibilities Teaching cybersecurity tools (SOC tools, network security tools, vulnerability assessment tools, IDS/IPS tools, digital forensics tools). Assisting in the management and support of the cybersecurity laboratory Minimum Job Requirements Doctoral degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related disciplines with a focus on Cybersecurity. Required Competencies Doctorate in Computer Science, IT, or a closely related field with a strong record of teaching, research, and scholarly activities commensurate with appointment at the rank of assistant professor. Excellent leadership, management, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, financial management, and problem‑solving skills. Knowledge of best models and practices to encourage student success, including regular research, training, and involvement in relevant forums and conferences. Ability to exercise initiative and creativity in implementing responsibilities. Dedication to students, commitment to excellence in creating and providing student support services, and ensuring student success. Strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching. Commitment to working in a collaborative environment with other team members.
