Job Title: Training Coordinator
Job Summary:
The New York City Justice Peer Initiative (JPI) is dedicated to strengthening and expanding opportunities for the Justice Peer workforce. JPI advances this mission through professional-development training, New York State workforce certification, technical assistance for employers, and movement-building and policy efforts that center Justice Peer voices and leadership in transforming the criminal legal and behavioral health treatment systems.
The full-time Training Coordinator is responsible for delivering JPI’s core training curriculum and supporting the continued growth of its workforce-development programs. The Coordinator will conduct at least six trainings per month in locations throughout New York City, Long Island, Westchester County, Upstate New York, and Western New York, helping JPI reach a minimum of 600 trainees annually. The Upstate and Western NY training and community engagement will require overnight stays.
The Training Coordinator will also work closely with the Executive Director to plan and coordinate JPI’s annual conference. This role requires strong facilitation, organization, communication, and relationship-building skills, as well as a commitment to supporting Justice Peer leadership and advancing equitable systems change for Justice Peers.
The Center for Alternative Sentencing & Employment Services (CASES) is incubating JPI, providing fiscal sponsorship. The training coordinator will be hired as a CASES employee and will be eligible to receive CASES’ excellent benefits.
Shift Hours: This position is full-time working Monday through Friday 9:00am-5pm, with occasional late hours and overstays.
Salary: The salary for this role is $70,000 per year.

Workplace Flexibility: Flexible to complete workday from home after training and community engagement activities with typically at least 80% of time in-office/in-person).
What You Will Be Doing:
- Facilitate in-person Academy of Peer Services specialty-track trainings, including Peer Support for Justice-Involved Individuals, Peer Support for Health and Wellness, and Peer Support for Individuals in Crisis
- Deliver JPI-developed core curricula, including Justice/Forensic Peer Supervision, as well as trainings focused on public speaking, leadership development, policy, and advocacy
- Train at least 75 Justice Peers annually in public speaking, leadership, policy engagement, and advocacy, using peer-led and participatory learning approaches
- Coordinate the delivery of JPI’s core training programs for Justice Peers across New York City, Long Island, Westchester County, Upstate New York, and Western New York, including scheduling trainers, securing locations, preparing materials, and communicating with host organizations
- Manage all aspects of training registration, attendance tracking, participant communications, and post-training evaluations
- Review participant feedback and training outcomes to identify opportunities for curriculum improvement and strengthen the overall training experience
- Develop and implement outreach, marketing, and communications strategies to recruit prospective trainees and promote JPI’s training and workforce-development opportunities
- Build partnerships with employers, service providers, advocacy organizations, community groups, government agencies, and other stakeholders to expand access to JPI trainings and support Justice Peer workforce development
- Maintain and expand JPI’s listserv and other communication channels to connect trainees and employers with training opportunities, workforce resources, organizational updates, and professional-development materials
- Work closely with the Executive Director to plan and coordinate JPI’s annual conference, including program development, presenter coordination, participant outreach, registration, logistics, and event preparation
- Maintain accurate and timely program records, including training schedules, attendance and completion data, participant demographics, evaluation results, program expenses, and other information required for internal management and funder reporting
- Complete monthly reconciliation of training activities, program data, expenses, and progress toward annual participation and performance goals.
What We Are Looking For:
- Training experience and strong knowledge of peer recovery support principles, NYS peer certification and specialization tracks
- Proven track record of working with peer specialist staff
- Eligible to become a certified peer specialist within 6 months of employment
- At least three years of relevant work experience
- Experience and understanding of the criminal legal system (CLS) and the role of peer support within the CLS
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity, equity, and belonging and contributing to an inclusive work environment
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal) with all types and levels of audiences
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc
