Special Education Teacher - La Fayette, GA

A rewarding opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support middle school students in a vibrant, inclusive co-teaching environment. This contract role is full-time, with a schedule from 7:45 am to 3:45 pm, beginning as soon as possible and extending through May 21, 2027. If you have passion for collaborative teaching and a strong commitment to supporting diverse learners, this setting welcomes your expertise.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid and active GaPSC SPED Consultative P-12 Teaching Endorsement
  • Experience supporting students with Autism, OHI, SLD, MID, EBD in inclusive or co-taught settings
  • Background with individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management
  • Ability to work flexibly within classrooms where caseloads range from approximately 10-12 students per grade, adapting to enrollment fluctuations
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for effective team teaching and partnership with general education teachers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach 6th grade Math and Science, as well as 7th/8th grade ELA and Science, in classrooms that prioritize student inclusion
  • Deliver specialized instruction and accommodations based on IEP requirements, ensuring every student reaches their academic potential
  • Implement and monitor behavior plans for students, providing interventions as necessary within the co-taught setting
  • Maintain accurate and timely records related to student progress and IEPs
  • Foster a positive, structured classroom atmosphere supportive of students transitioning to or continuing in middle school
