SUPERVISORY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Learn more about this agency Duties Help Summary: The primary purpose of this position is: to exercise second level supervisory and managerial authorities over the 57th Wing (57 WG). Directs, supervises, manages, and is accountable for the execution and functions of the wing's subordinate Staff Division Chiefs and the Commander's Special Staff (Inspector General, Resource Advisor, Advanced Programs, Base Public Affairs, Wing Safety, STAN EVAL, and Human Performance). The incumbent, through the management of the Wing Staff and subordinate O-6 commanders, carries out the O-7 Wing Commander's directed priorities with full decision authority to execute the U.S. Air Force Weapons School syllabus; multiple annual iterations of RED FLAG and GREEN FLAG exercises; two Direct Reporting Units, the U.S. Air Force Advanced Maintenance and Munitions Operations School and the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron - the Thunderbirds. Duties:
- Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the 57th Wing (57 WG).
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
- Represents the 57 WG with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
- Independently formulates strategic plans and policies and exercises broad oversight for the 57 WG to implement policies for the management of Wing activities.

- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
- Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
- The duties of this position require the employee to operate a motor vehicle. AN appropriate, valid driver's license is required.
- Incumbent is required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours. Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
- Military flightline operations or aviation experience is highly desired to ensure effective engagement with operational mission partners.
- A master's degree is highly desired; however, an equivalent combination of advanced professional experience, senior level leadership roles, or specialized training may be considered in lieu of a graduate degree.
- This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed. A favorable suitability determination is required before appointment.
- This is a centrally managed position in the Operations Career Field.
- This is a Supervisory Position. A 1-year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
- The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and cannot become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve")
- This position is a "Key" position. It cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without impairing the capability of the organization to- function effectively. Unless an alternate can be designated to perform the duties of this position during wartime, the incumbent of this "Key" position must be screened from military recall status.
- Knowledge of asset management principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to effectively supervise planning & integration of USAF operational and warfighting capabilities including large scale combat operations, exercise execution, training, and advisory services.
- Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of planning, programming, and budgeting cycles; financial systems, and restrictions on expenditure of funds; and standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Skill and ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
- Skill and ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
