Building Maintenance Technician

Building Maintenance Technician Location: 13112 Evening Creek Drive, South San Diego, CA 92128 Work Schedule Tuesday‑Saturday 12:00pm–8:30pm. Additional days and hours may be required. Job Responsibilities Provide facility maintenance of laboratory and office areas. Perform general facility maintenance services, including changing and replacing light bulbs, moving furniture for room set‑up and tear‑down, carpet repair, light painting, and preventive maintenance. Conduct adjustments, repairs, and preventive maintenance on a variety of laboratory and office equipment. Respond to requests from internal customers following established practices, update and track orders through maintenance software. Use a wide variety of hand, power, and machine tools to perform assignments. Ensure that facilities are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and compliant with safety standards. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs. Collect and document lab waste, including halogenated and non‑halogenated solvents, infectious waste and other products requiring controlled disposal. Perform other required tasks as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. 1 year or more of experience working independently with minimal supervision and prioritizing tasks effectively. 1 year or more of using hand tools and performing basic repairs. Good computer skills, including ability to manage electronic work order tickets. Preferred Qualifications Vocational training or certification in facilities maintenance, HVAC, plumbing or related field. 3 years or more of experience in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or construction trades. 2 years or more of experience as a handyman with general exposure to construction and engineering environment. 1 year or more of experience in providing internal customer service. Additional Job Standards Flexible to work overtime as needed. Rotating on‑call coverage required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Must be at least 21 years old. This position will support Maintenance Engineers with day‑to‑day operation, planned preventative and reactive maintenance of site. Responsible for planned maintenance tasks as directed by the Team Leader. Pay Range $17.25–$30.00 per hour, plus Shift 2 Differential Base Pay +10%. Employees scheduled to work less than 20 hours, or who are casual, intern, or temporary, are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan.
