Delivery Driver / Finishing & Shipping Associate

Mt. Ulla, NC   |   Full-Time   |   Hourly + Delivery Bonus

About the Role

Piedmont Well Covers manufactures fiberglass wellhead covers for customers across the Southeast. We're looking for a reliable driver to run our delivery routes 2-3 days per week, with the rest of the week spent supporting finishing, palleting, and shipping. This role is customer-facing first: you're often the only PWC employee our customers see face to face, so how you show up and handle yourself on the road matters as much as anything else.

Deliveries typically run every Friday, plus one to two additional days during the week. Most routes fall within about a 3-hour radius of our shop, but expect at least one longer regional route (8+ hours round trip) per month, including runs into SC and GA.

What You'll Do

Delivery (primary focus, 2-3 days per week: every Friday, plus 1-2 additional weekdays)

•      Drive our 26-foot non-CDL box truck (equipped with a hydraulic lift gate) on local and regional delivery routes

•      Load and secure the truck ahead of each delivery run

•      Unload product safely at customer sites, including manual lifting and use of load-securement equipment

•      Complete required trip paperwork and time records

•      Represent PWC professionally with customers at every stop, including handling delays or logistics hiccups calmly and communicating clearly with the office

Finishing, Palleting & Shipping (remaining days)

•      Support finishing work on the painted side, including rolling, trimming, and moving parts in and out

•      Pallet and stage finished product for outgoing shipments

•      Coordinate shipping logistics and keep outgoing orders organized and on schedule

What We're Looking For

Required

•      Valid North Carolina driver's license (Class C)

•      Clean motor vehicle record — this is a hard requirement for insurance approval

•      Physically capable of regularly lifting and moving heavy product

•      Strong customer service instincts — this is the most important quality for the role

•      Reliable attendance and a steady, even-keeled approach to problems on the road

Preferred

•      Current DOT medical certification (Medical Examiner's Certificate), or willingness to obtain one as a condition of employment

•      Prior experience driving a box truck or similar commercial vehicle

•      Experience with finishing, painting, or similar hands-on production work

We're specifically looking for someone who:

•      Shows up on time, every time

•      Handles friction (a slow customer, a long route, a delay etc.)

•      Communicates proactively

Schedule & Pay

•      Full-time, hourly position: $19–$21/hour base, based on experience

•      Additional bonus for meeting delivery objectives=

•      Weekly pay

•      Most routes are within a 3-hour radius of the shop; expect at least one 8+ hour round trip per month on longer regional routes (SC/GA)

Hours

•      Monday–Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:30 PM (subject to delivery needs)

•      Friday: 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM (subject to delivery/production needs)

•      No weekend work

Time Off & Holidays

•      3 weeks of paid "set" days off per year

•      Paid Holiday Break: PWC shuts down for a period around July 4th and Christmas

•      Paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day

Requirements Before Driving

As a condition of employment, selected candidates will complete, at company expense and within the first days of hire:

•      Motor vehicle record (MVR) check

•      DOT physical and medical certification (if not already current)

•      Company road test and load-securement training

•      Pre-employment background and drug screening (standard for all PWC hires)
