Today, Chama Mama continues to grow across New York City through multiple restaurant locations, catering services, a centralized Culinary Lab, and bakery operations. As a Food Runner, you play an essential role in delivering the Chama Mama experience. You ensure that every dish reaches our guests accurately, at the proper temperature, and in a timely manner while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality.

You are energetic, detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about teamwork. You thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment, communicate effectively with both the kitchen and service teams, and understand that exceptional hospitality depends on every team member working together.

Deliver Exceptional Food Service

• Deliver food from the kitchen to guests accurately, efficiently, and at the proper temperature.

• Announce and describe dishes as they are delivered, ensuring guests receive the correct orders.

• Verify food accuracy, presentation, and quality before delivering dishes to guests.

• Check on guests' immediate needs when delivering food and communicate additional requests to the service team.

Create Memorable Guest Experiences

• Interact with guests warmly and professionally, reflecting Chama Mama's hospitality standards.

• Assist with non-alcoholic beverage refills and other guest requests when appropriate.

• Maintain knowledge of our menu, Georgian cuisine, ingredients, and food preparation methods.

• Communicate guest requests, dietary restrictions, and allergy concerns promptly to the appropriate team members.

Support Seamless Restaurant Operations

• Work closely with servers, kitchen staff, and management to maintain an efficient flow of service.

• Clear used plates, glassware, silverware, napkins, and other tableware when guests no longer need them.

• Clean and reset tables and seating areas to prepare for incoming guests.

• Organize and properly stack used tableware in designated kitchen areas.

• Assist fellow team members during busy service periods to ensure a smooth guest experience.

Maintain Operational Excellence

• Complete assigned opening and closing side work for every shift.

• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary service stations and work areas.

• Follow Department of Health standards for food handling, sanitation, and proper storage.

• Maintain knowledge of the correct use and care of restaurant equipment and tools.

• Follow all workplace safety procedures and maintain a safe environment for guests and team members.

• Previous food runner or restaurant experience preferred.

• Passion for providing exceptional hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent attention to detail, particularly regarding food accuracy, presentation, and guest needs.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

• Positive attitude with a strong team-first mindset.

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the kitchen and service teams.

• Fluent in spoken and written English.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move continuously for extended periods.

• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.

• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
