Job CoachVIA is seeking a per diem Job Coach. This position is primarily responsible for providing guidance, support, and feedback to individuals who are blind/visually impaired at their training/work sites and to objectively document performance.Essential Functions:Coach, teach, monitor and provide support to individual at their work siteProvide individualized training to assist in the mastering of their assigned job dutiesIdentify and communicate potential barriers to the success of the individualProvide guidance in learning to integrate with other employees and the work environmentAssist in developing and enhancing communication with other employees and supervisor(s)Assist in developing necessary soft skills to be successful in the workplaceProvide detailed and objective documentation of performance, establish short-term goals for improvement, monitor progress and provide regular feedback in accordance with established department/agency guidelinesCelebrate successes and identify areas for growth in order to be successful in the workplaceCommunicate regularly with VIA staffCompetencies:Exceptional interpersonal communication and writing abilitiesDemonstrated ability to provide exceptional internal and external customer serviceEffectively work with individuals of diverse backgroundsMaintain confidentiality and professionalismStrong organizational skills and ability to multi-taskEnergetic, flexible, patient and detail-oriented individualAbility to think independently, problem solve and execute assigned tasksQualifications:High school graduate or equivalent requiredPrevious successful work experience requiredNYS drivers license and reliable transportation OR the ability to travel effectively to assigned geographic locationsExperience working with people who are blind/visually impaired preferred but not requiredVIA is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and as such affirms the right of every person to participate in all aspects of employment without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, citizenship, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, veteran status, disability, genetic information, or any other protected characteristic.
