Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to utilize your pharmacy expertise in a long-term care (LTC) mail order environment. The position is contract to hire, with an initial 13-week assignment working four 10-hour day shifts, from Monday to Friday. Shift options include 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM, providing flexibility to fit various schedules.

Responsibilities:

• Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately.
• Monitor patient medication compliance and identify patterns of over-usage.
• Ensure the supply and use of medicines comply with legal regulations.
• Verify that prescribed medications are suitable and safe for patients.
• Maintain confidential and precise records for all patients and pharmacy files.
• Advise patients on medication use, possible reactions, and answer related questions.
• Provide consultations on prescription and non-prescription medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and potential drug interactions.
• Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on the proper handling of medical devices, including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications for external and internal use, including preparation of sterile solutions following established protocols.
• Supervise pharmacy staff including pharmacy technicians and clerks.
• Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
• Identify drug-related problems in patients and collaborate effectively with physicians and healthcare practitioners.
• Work closely with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience.
• Experience in Long Term Care and/or Mail Order pharmacy settings is preferred.
• Sterile compounding experience highly desirable.
• Active North Carolina pharmacy license required.
