Property Accountant

Property Accountant Dallas, TX – hybrid, 2-3 days onsite One of Vaco’s real estate investment clients is looking to onboard a Senior Accountant due to continued growth of the organization. The company has a diverse portfolio of commercial and multifamily assets over $5B in value. The Property Accountant will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting of an assigned portfolio of properties. This role requires strong technical accounting skills, the ability to manage multiple entities, and a proactive mindset in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Compensation: $75-90K + bonus Day-to-day Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, and intercompany transactions Perform monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations Analyze financial results and investigate variances Prepare monthly property financial statements and supporting schedules Deliver timely and accurate reporting packages to internal stakeholders and asset management teams Assist with budget vs. actual analysis and forecasting support Record and reconcile rental income, CAM recoveries, and tenant billings Ensure accurate lease abstraction and compliance with lease terms Support revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP Track capital expenditures, tenant improvements, and construction-in-progress Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations Support external audits, lender reporting, and tax preparation processes Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies Assist with internal controls and process improvements Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting efficiency Participate in system implementations or enhancements as the company scales Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 2–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property accounting Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting Experience with property management/accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, AppFolio) preferred Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines in a fast-paced environment #J-18808-Ljbffr
