Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Your qualifications and experience may include:

• National Orientation and Mobility Certification
• Vision Certification
• Previous school-based experience (strongly preferred, but not required)
• Ability to complete a 2-part onboarding process, including document submission and procedural agreements
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Commitment to building positive and productive relationships with students, staff, and families

In this position, you'll:

• Deliver effective orientation and mobility instruction to students across a range of age groups and needs (specific caseload and school assignments to be determined)
• Assess students’ independent navigation skills and create individualized instructional plans
• Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student progress and promote safe school and community travel
• Adapt strategies to various educational settings
• Maintain thorough and timely records in accordance with district procedures
• Participate in ongoing professional and district-required training

This role is full-time—Monday through Friday—with an 8-hour workday and a 30-minute unpaid break. The anticipated start date is August 10th, 2026, continuing through late May 2027. Interviews are likely to occur the week after budget approval, providing an excellent chance for a timely placement.
