Varsity Volleyball Coach Oxford Public Schools, Oxford High School – Oxford, Massachusetts Job ID: 5747429 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 29, 2026 12:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 24, 2026 Position Type: After school/Evening Salary: $3,900 – $3,900 Stipend Job Description Title: Athletic Coach – Varsity Volleyball Coach Reporting to the Athletic Director, an Athletic Coach is responsible for coaching and providing direction to student athletes so they may achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instructs and demonstrates skill sets/techniques necessary for individual and team achievement. Works with Athletic Director in planning and developing practice and game schedules, activities, and training programs. Ensures proper cleaning, storage, and maintenance of all athletic equipment and uniforms. Arranges transportation for athletic participants and hotel accommodations for overnight events; travels with student athletes on team bus both to and from games. Makes recommendations regarding the purchase of uniforms, equipment, and supplies. Maintains necessary records and forms (insurance, attendance, medical); completes required paperwork and team statistics. Ensures that all student athletes are eligible, insured, have paid fees, and are in good physical condition from the beginning of the season to the end. Enforces discipline policies and emphasizes sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles; supervises students at home and away games to ensure appropriate behavior; ensures appropriate rules and regulations regarding the conduct and eligibility of athletes are explained and followed. Checks and secures offices, storage rooms, outside doors, locker rooms, and lights after last player leaves premises after games/practices; inspects all facilities for health and safety concerns. Ensures medical and safety requirements are followed; completes District injury reports for any students injured within 24 hours of injury, even if student athlete does not see a physician. Secures approval from the Athletic Director of all adult volunteers associated with his/her sport. Submits to the Athletic Director, as requested: athletic roster, student information, inventories, season statistics, and list of award winners. Assigns duties to assistant coaches under his/her jurisdiction including pre-season practices. Interacts professionally, thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, parents, fellow coaches and officials, community, media; resolves conflict in a professional manner. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED); Two years of related experience; prior successful experience coaching student-athletes preferred; CPR/AED/First Aid certification required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of effective coaching techniques and skills. Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, and students. Skill-based competencies include working well with diverse backgrounds, resolving conflict, maintaining confidentiality, building positive team spirit, leading/motivating adolescent students. Ability-based competencies include comprehending instructions and problem solving. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, employee is required to communicate and comprehend; lift, transport, and/or move equipment up to 30 pounds, and at times up to 100 pounds; ascend and descend stairs, ropes, or ladders. Vision requirements: close/distance vision and adjusting focus/peripherals; demonstration of technique/skills for athletic participation. Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a school environment, athletic field, athletic setting, indoors and outdoors. The noise level is usually moderate to loud but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities. Employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Employee may be exposed to bodily fluids and/or bloodborne pathogens. Job Requirements Satisfactory CORI, SORI, and Fingerprint background checks. Successful completion of annual mandatory training. At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred. High School/Trade School degree preferred. Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
