Position Overview and Qualifications

The Quality Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring that all elements of the quality and performance improvement initiatives are effectively implemented to enhance clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct timely and precise data collection through both concurrent and retrospective reviews of clinical medical records.
  • Oversee case reviews focusing on high volume/high risk and low volume, problem-prone procedures.
  • Summarize review findings and provide feedback on potential quality concerns and trends to the Market VPQ / CMO.
  • Coordinate data abstraction, analysis, and trending for specific reviews and as requested, including Professional Practice Evaluation activities.
  • Identify areas for improvement based on data analysis and outcomes, communicating findings promptly to the Market VPQ / CMO.
  • Assist in the coordination of quality programs and initiatives across the hospital by measuring, analyzing, and taking actions to enhance services and patient outcomes.
  • Maintain systematic data collection and ensure the flow of information for improvement workgroups and committees.
  • Engage in performance improvement activities to guarantee ongoing quality enhancement.
  • Update and manage quality profiles, collaborating with division Ongoing Provider Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Provider Practice Evaluation (FPPE) processes.
  • Participate in assigned committees and workgroups, ensuring follow-up on meeting outcomes as necessary.
  • Facilitate the system-wide Professional Practice Evaluation Committee in collaboration with the Chair, Market VPQ, and CMO, including all follow-up tasks.
  • Build strong working relationships with hospital and medical staff.
  • Retrieve, communicate, and present information in both written and visual formats suitable for the intended audience.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to gather, aggregate, and analyze data aimed at improving patient outcomes.
  • Provide updates to Division and Corporate leadership as requested, in conjunction with Market VPQ and CMO.
  • Exhibit proper telephone etiquette when responding to calls.
  • Ensure patient privacy and the confidentiality of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Encourage customer service initiatives.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by assisting other departments within the hospital as needed.
  • Maintain positive formal and informal relationships.
  • Complete mandatory educational requirements.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as patient safety initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required; a Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Tennessee or compact licensure in the state of residence is necessary.
  • A minimum of 5 years of clinical experience is required.
  • Experience in emergency departments or critical care is preferred.

Our facility is a 270+ bed hospital located near downtown Chattanooga, offering a wide range of diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These include cardiovascular surgery, cancer treatment, intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. We also feature a state-of-the-art neurosurgery program, OB-GYN services, and a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), along with behavioral health treatment centers for both children and adults.
