Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This contract position offers the opportunity to support, mentor, and guide children and adolescents, ensuring each individual receives the accommodations and instruction they need to reach their fullest potential.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with visual impairments across various age ranges
  • Strong knowledge of braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials for visual disabilities
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, families, and school staff
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse needs in educational settings

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assess students’ functional vision and provide recommendations for accommodations and technology
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs
  • Offer direct instruction in braille, orientation and mobility, and the use of assistive technology
  • Consult with classroom teachers and other specialists to support inclusive education
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
  • Conduct ongoing communication with families regarding student goals and achievements
