The company’s portfolio includes many of the world’s most respected and influential media properties, including Vogue, Vanity Fair, Glamour, GQ, The New Yorker, Condé Nast Traveler/Traveller, Allure, AD, Bon Appétit and Wired, among others.Position OverviewThe Executive Finance Director based in New York is a key member of the Corporate FP&A function, and will be responsible for leading our global Long-Range Planning (LRP), decision support and strategic projects. While this role reports directly to the VP of Corporate FP&A, it operates as a key, on-the-ground strategic partner to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in New York. This role requires a commercially astute, analytical, and highly articulate leader who possesses the gravitas to collaborate closely with the CFO and senior US executive stakeholders, while seamlessly maintaining alignment with the broader global finance function. The role operates in a complex, multi-brand, matrix-structured and multi-market environment, and you will be the critical bridge between visionary strategy and grounded financial reality.The role requires a blend of strong leadership and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and partner effectively across multiple teams and senior leadership. The role will be tasked with translating high-level corporate ambition into robust, multi-year financial models, while simultaneously driving high-stakes strategic projects.Driving the global long-range planning agenda requires critically assessing commercial strategies, challenging business cases, identifying risks and opportunities, and translating strategic decisions into clear financial outcomes and scenarios. The Executive Finance Director will possess the technical passion to dive deep into complex spreadsheets and data models. Being able to think macro, but execute with micro-precision is required. While this is a senior leadership role, the person will regularly roll up their sleeves to build, audit, and refine complex financial models themselves. The role ensures the highest level of accuracy and granularity in financial data, establishing frameworks that reduce ambiguity in long-term projections.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Long Range Planning & Decision Support Ownership of the Global LRP process: Design, orchestrate, and execute the annual 5-year global financial planning process across all brands and geographic markets, working closely with function and market teams.Strategic Translation of Business Ideas into Financial Forecasts: Convert qualitative brand and market strategies into quantitative, accurate, and fully integrated financial forecasts (P&L & Cash Flow).Scenario Modeling: Where necessary, be able to build sensitivity analyses and stress-test business concepts.Serve as a trusted advisor to the business leaders and finance teams, providing clear, data-backed recommendations that influence the strategic direction of the company.Translate complex financial data into compelling narrative presentations for executive and board-level consumption.Confidently challenge assumptions made by commercial and brand leaders, ensuring strategic plans are both ambitious and financially viable.Support the Business Development team, acting as the financial architect for critical, non-standard corporate initiatives—such as market entry/exit strategies, new business initiatives, brand portfolio optimization, commercial restructuring, or M&A evaluation.Support company valuations and work closely with Advance on any support needed in this areaFinancial support to Transformation Project Management Office:Steering major transformation programs, this role will serve as the strategic financial architect and governance anchor, translating complex operational changes into measurable financial outcomes. Partnering closely with the Transformation PMO, the role is responsible for evaluating the financial implications, risk profiles, and ROI of all proposed initiatives, ensuring every project is backed by a robust, strategically aligned business case. Establish and oversee rigorous financial tracking frameworks and KPIs to monitor milestone-based spend, manage budget variances, and objectively validate the realization of targeted cost savings or value creation. Provide CFO with the financial visibility to ensure the transformation projects drive sustainable, long-term profitability and are meeting their finance goals.Commercial Financial support to Business Development Team Launching New Initiatives:Commercial finance co-pilot to the Business Development team helping to drive the financial strategy behind high-stakes growth initiatives, brand licensing, and strategic partnerships. Responsible for reviewing and where necessary leading the financial modeling, financial valuation, and financial risk assessment for diverse monetization strategies—including real life events and “Big Swings”—ensuring all proposals are backed by rigorous, data-driven business cases that safeguard corporate margins. Key liaison with the financial controlling team to ensure financial implications of deals have been evaluated accurately and all risks have been highlighted.Work closely with the business development team to support post-deal financial tracking and performance analysis, providing the executive leadership team with the critical insights and progress milestones.Job RequirementsIdeally 10+ years experience in FP&A or strategic finance Experience in media or a similar industry within an international companyExcellent written and verbal communication skills, experience collaborating with senior finance professionals, partnering with the business & being a ‘voice in the room’Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, comfortable with handling lots of data and delivering quality outputs with minimal review required Proven ability to shift effortlessly from high-level strategic thinking to granular, hands-on financial modeling.Ability to lead through influence rather than formal authority, driving outcomes, shaping direction, and supporting the success of colleagues and the wider organisation.Strong relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across functions and levelsBuilds effective relationships across diverse cultures, languages, working styles, and functions, recognising and adapting to differing perspectives and priorities.Able to manage business change in a rapidly changing environment, both in the company and the wider media industryAble to work in a cross-functional matrix organisation, and experience in managing work deliverables across multiple time-zones.Works well under pressure prioritises effectively and takes ownership of deliverables Self-motivated, flexible & a great team player, adaptable to pitch in to wider demands of the team where requiredProficient user of G-suite and prior exposure to Oracle EPM Advanced is an advantage.The expected base salary range for this position is from $250,000-290,000.
