Job Description

The cleanroom production operator works on both manual and automated packaging lines to support high-volume production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role focuses on building and weighing boxes, monitoring automated packaging equipment, and collaborating closely with a small team to achieve daily packaging goals while following strict manufacturing processes and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Work on the manual packaging line by building boxes, weighing boxes, and ensuring each package meets defined standards.
• Collaborate with a team of 57 colleagues on a manufacturing-style line, completing assigned tasks and moving boxes down the line efficiently.
• Rotate between different stations on the packaging line to support workflow and maintain productivity throughout the shift.
• Support the automated packaging line by monitoring machines that perform cartridge packaging and ensuring they run smoothly.
• Monitor all machine screens on the automated line, promptly identifying any error messages or alarms.
• Remove parts and reset the machine when errors occur, ensuring that all defective or suspect parts are identified and removed from the process.
• Load materials into the machine or staging area and replenish parts as needed to maintain continuous operation of the automated line.
• Track and monitor inventory levels of each part at each station to prevent shortages that could stop the machine.
• Follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) without deviation to maintain product quality and compliance.
• Perform visual inspections and basic quality assurance checks to identify defects and ensure packaging accuracy.
• Operate production and packaging equipment safely and consistently in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail while standing for most of the shift and working closely with machinery.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating manufacturing or production machines, preferably in a packaging or automated line environment.
• Ability to stand for the majority of the shift while performing repetitive production and packaging tasks.
• High attention to detail with the ability to closely monitor machine screens, materials, and finished products for errors or defects.
• Strong ability to follow strict manufacturing processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) without deviation.
• Experience with general production, packaging, and packing processes in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort working in close proximity to machinery and in an environment with loud noises.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small team on a production line, coordinating tasks and maintaining workflow.
• Flexibility to move between different stations, tasks, and departments based on production needs.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production and cleanroom environment, working closely with packaging machinery and automated equipment throughout the shift. The work involves standing for most of the day on a fast-paced packaging line, with frequent rotation between stations to support workflow. The environment includes loud noises due to machinery, and operators must remain attentive to multiple machine screens and moving parts. Shifts follow an alternative work schedule with a first shift from Monday to Thursday, 4:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime paid only for hours worked over 40 per week. Employees may occasionally be reassigned to support other departments in a nearby building, reflecting a flexible work structure designed to keep staff actively employed and engaged across different production areas.

This is a contract position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
