Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 18:45 - 07:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: None required, CCRN recommended Must-Have: Titration of vesicant medications. Familiarity with pressors, sedation, and paralytics. Experience with ventilators, tracheostomies, and telemetry interpretation. Understanding of hemodynamics and PA catheter setup and interpretation. Transvenous pacing, cardioversion, and TEE experience. Familiarity with chest tube insertions and maintenance. Description: General comments: Unit has 16 beds with patient ratios of 2:1 or 1:1, occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity. RNs only; no unit secretaries or patient care technicians. Type of equipment includes ventilators, telemetry, Baxter IV pumps, IABP, CRRT, and Impella. Documentation system utilizes Cerner. Scheduling requirements are for 36 hours per week, with alternating weekends. Travelers may float to all areas as needed. ICU experience is required. Desirable skills include IABP, Impella, and CRRT. Procedures performed on the unit include cardioversion, central line insertion, EGD, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis. Dress code: All navy or navy and white scrubs are required. No pullovers or hoodies allowed. Green scrubs may only be worn if soiled at work. Candidates should be aware of unit-specific policies and guidelines. Consider new equipment or technology and the tenure and experience of staff when selecting this assignment.
