Job Summary:

Manages the delivery of financial counseling services. Coordinates financial strategies and collaborates with various stakeholders to optimize patient financial outcomes. Develops and implements initiatives of patientcentered care and customer service. Analyzes financial data to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies. Facilitates strong relationships with vendors, insurance companies, and internal teams to maintain workflows and resolve financial issues.

• Manages the team to ensure patients receive financial counseling, and serves as the escalation point for complex financial counseling situations.
• Manages relationships with contracted vendors/agencies that qualify applicants, and maintains relationships with hospital leaders to ensure financial counselors are providing appropriate support.
• Manages Medicaid program certifications for all facilities and responds to requested receivables, and works across patient access, pre-registration, and registration staff to maintain workflow.
• Collaborates with inpatient and outpatient social work and case management teams to identify insurance options for patients with care coordination or discharge needs.
• Develops and implements financial counseling strategies to optimize patient financial outcomes and organizational revenue.
• Stays informed in government and state regulations as they relate to Medicaid. Assists with implementing changes to workflows and communications when appropriate.
• Analyzes financial data and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions, and coordinates with insurance companies and other third-party payers to resolve billing and payment issues. 
• Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of financial counseling programs and services, making adjustments as needed, and ensures documentation of all financial counseling activities in compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements. 
• Partners with Revenue Cycle Management training team to ensure department training materials are kept up to date. • Facilitates patient education on financial assistance programs, payment plans, and insurance benefits.
• Promotes collaborative relationships between the team and other teams across pre-service, time-of-service, and revenue cycle functions. 
• Responsible for employment activities including hiring, firing, corrective action, training, monitoring and conducting performance reviews. 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in finance, healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field 

One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience or one year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.

• Minimum of 7 Years of Experience of experience in financial counseling or healthcare finance (Required) 
• Navigate rapidly changing situations, from evolving patient needs to technological advancements, by remaining flexible, continuously learning, embracing new challenges, and quickly recovering from setbacks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
• Applies advanced knowledge of aligned field and process in order to effectively manage operations.
• Exercises independent judgment within defined policies and procedures to determine appropriate action(s) for moderately complex issues.
• Strong attention to detail and self-directed to consistently ensure data integrity and accuracy.
• Uphold ethical principles by maintaining confidentiality, ensuring informed consent, and making decisions that prioritize the well-being of both patients and staff.
• Authority to direct and support employees’ daily work activities; has authority to undertake or recommend the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews.
• Work seamlessly within diverse teams, bringing together professionals from various disciplines to provide patient-centered care and achieve collective goals. 
• Reports any breakdown in controls to management.
• Makes independent decisions related to resources, approach, and tactical operations; decision making may include cross process/job family collaboration.
• Addresses problems that are varied, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation using direct observation, advanced knowledge, and skills based on general precedents.
• Applies advanced understanding of discipline/ specialization/ business process and a broad business perspective in Pre-Service Revenue Cycle Management.
• Drives improvement in existing business processes and assist in the identification and implementation of new processes.
• Advanced proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office Package (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). 

Salary Range: Minimum $41.88/hour - Maximum $73.31/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
