Responsibilities As a Software Engineer II, You will be part of a team responsible for designing and building scalable backend systems supporting CalAmp Telematics Cloud (CTC). You will build and scale microservices using modern cloud technologiesTranslate product requirements into scalable system designs and production-ready applicationsCreate technical designs and contribute to system architecture decisionsDesign, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, reliable and scalable softwareTroubleshoot and resolve issues in production systemsEnsure application performance, quality, and responsivenessIdentify performance bottlenecks and develop solutions to these problemsDevelop and maintain automated tests to ensure system reliabilityIdentify and implement application monitoring and metricsEvaluate and implement technologies that improve scalability and performanceParticipate in sprint planning and feature deliveryOwn features end-to-end in production environmentsCollaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and DevOps teams Qualifications Must Haves3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systemsStrong experience with Java and object-oriented programmingExperience building backend services using frameworks such as Spring BootExperience building microservices or distributed systemsExperience working with a cloud platform (AWS preferred)Experience designing scalable and reliable systemsExperience working in production environments (monitoring, debugging, performance optimization)Ability to write clean, maintainable, secure codeAbility to work independently and collaborativelyStrong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detailBachelor's degree or equivalentNice to HaveExperience with Kafka, Redis, or event-driven architecturesExperience with Kubernetes and DockerExperience with PostgreSQL or relational databasesExposure to IoT or real-time data systemsExperience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practicesExposure to NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Elasticsearch)Experience in AI/ML, Agentic AI, AWS SageMaker or equivalentExperience with TypeScript/node.js and AWS LambdaMaster’s in Computer Science or equivalentTech StackJavaSpring Boot/QuarkusAWS (EC2, RDS, Lambda)Kafka, RedisKubernetes, DockerPostgreSQL/DocumentDBEven if you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply if you bring relevant experience.If you are interested in building scalable backend systems and solving complex engineering challenges, we’d love to connect!
