Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 hour Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Med/Tele preferred in Oncology License: Valid RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred; ONS and OCN certification preferred Must-Have: - Port access - Blood product administration - Electrolyte management - End of life care - Pain and symptom management - PIV starts - Cardiac rhythm interpretation Description: We are seeking a Registered Nurse specializing in MedSurg/Tele. The unit has a capacity for 40 beds with an average daily census of 34 patients. Patient types include Hematology and Oncology, with common diagnoses such as Leukemia and symptom management. The RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4-5 depending on patient acuity. CNA support is available with a ratio of 1:9-12. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS. ONS and OCN certifications are preferred. The RN should be skilled in port access, blood product administration, electrolyte management, end of life care, and pain/symptom management. Other essential skills include PIV starts and cardiac rhythm interpretation. Support within the department includes CNA assistance for vital signs, ADL support, and a designated charge nurse. There is 24/7 availability of respiratory therapy and hospitalist services. Telemetry monitoring is conducted via a centralized unit, with RNs verifying strips each shift. The unit utilizes an electronic medical record system and various medical equipment. Dress code requires royal blue scrubs.
