Job Summary Schedules, leads, and coordinates the daily activities of a defined unit on an assigned shift. Oversees the delivery of optimal, safe, quality nursing care and regulatory compliance while providing leadership to staff by being an effective resource, role model, mentor, and change agent for the assigned department. Positively influences the quality and delivery of patient care. Directs and oversees a team of nurses and support staff, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, nursing protocols, and policies. Coordinates services with other patient‑care units to ensure patient flow and provides direct specialty nursing services and care as appropriate. Assists the department Manager in accomplishing unit and organizational goals. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment. Job Requirements Education and Work Experience Bachelor's Degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education/related experience (Required) Master's Degree (Preferred) Five years’ technical experience (Preferred) Licenses/Certifications Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice (Required) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS‑BLS OR RQIBLS) certification (Preferred) Clinical specialty and/or nursing administration certification (Preferred) Facility Specific License/Certifications AHA‑BLS or ARC‑BLS (Required) Essential Functions Collaborate with the entire care team to meet patient and family needs across the continuum of care; act as a patient advocate; coordinate nursing care with other healthcare disciplines; assist in integrating services; consult with staff to validate decisions, care plans, and patient education; proactively address concerns of patients/families, physicians, staff, and other team members to find solutions that achieve mutually desirable outcomes; maintain ongoing oversight of the unit and patient conditions through rounds and discussions with nurses and physicians. Participate in hiring, promotion, and disciplinary actions of employees; assume responsibility for staffing and scheduling; conduct performance evaluations for all shift employees; contribute to the professional growth and development of staff through education; prioritize patient‑care needs and staffing assignments on an ongoing basis, adjusting as needed to maintain patient safety; make assignments based on nurse competency and experience; provide clinical direction and evaluate the level of care performed by unit nursing staff. Consistently meet all regulatory and hospital requirements; conduct rounds and audits to ensure compliance with required standards; communicate findings to the Nurse Manager and collaborate on corrective actions. Provide administrative support to the Nurse Manager. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
