Deductions Associate, Freight

The Deduction Associate, Freight is responsible for reviewing and resolving freight-related deductions and determining whether freight claims should be filed for damaged or shorted shipments. This position also prepares and files freight claims, gathers supporting documentation, and works closely with the Shipping and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure timely resolution.

This position is on-site 4 days a week in Elgin, IL.

Functions of the Position:

• Evaluates freight deductions, obtains required supporting documentation, and forwards deductions to the appropriate department for review and approval.
• Reviews damaged or shorted shipments to determine whether a freight claim should be filed
• Prepares and files freight claims, including collecting and completing all necessary documentation in cooperation with the Shipping Department.
• Monitors outstanding freight deductions and works to ensure there are no open deductions greater than 90 days from the date created.
• Prepares documents for imaging and maintains accurate supporting documentation

Education, Experience, and Knowledge:

• Some college courses in accounting preferred.
• One or more years of Accounts Receivable experience preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of computers, word processing spreadsheets, and 10-kep adding machines.
• Good math aptitude
• Detail oriented, and good organizational skills.

The starting hourly range for this position is $20.60-$27.63. The hourly rate offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for performance-based incentives subject to the terms of the underlying plan.
