This role combines technical strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and organizational impact. The Specialist Controls Engineer provides technical oversight and mentorship, ensuring scalable, high-quality control system solutions that meet customer, operational, and financial objectives.Your role in our teamYou will define and maintain control system architecture, standards, and best practices, including development of reusable code libraries, templates, and modular design approachesYou will lead the design, development, deployment, and commissioning of complex PLC and HMI systems for material handling applicationsYou will provide technical oversight and lead design reviews for large-scale and high-risk projects, ensuring robust system integration across controls, interfaces, and third-party equipmentYou will lead controls engineering scope across multiple concurrent projects or programs, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery, including risk identification and mitigationYou will support ROM estimates, proposals, and technical solution development, including resource planning and workload allocationYou will oversee system validation, integration testing, and site acceptance testing (SAT), ensuring adherence to quality, testing, and documentation standardsYou will drive improvements in engineering and commissioning efficiency, including troubleshooting escalation support and optimization of startup and field execution performanceYou will collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders, while mentoring and developing junior engineers through coaching and training initiativesYour profileYou have obtained a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, controls engineering, mechatronics, or a related technical field, and 10 years of experience in controls engineering within material handling, automation, or related industryYour master’s degree in a related engineering discipline is preferred, and may be considered in place of up to two years of experienceYour professional certifications, such as Certified Automation Professional (CAP) or TUV Functional Safety Engineer is preferredYou have advanced proficiency with Rockwell Automation (ControlLogix, GuardLogix, Studio 5000) and Siemens platforms (TIA Portal, S7)You have advanced knowledge of industrial networks, including EtherNet/IP, Profinet, and safety networksYou have strong experience in control system architecture, integration, and large-scale material handling systems, including sortation, conveyors, AS/RS, and roboticsYou have strong experience with HMI/SCADA development, system visualization, and software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing, and quality assurance processesYou are knowledgeable of electrical design principles, device selection, and control panel integrationYou have proven ability to lead technical direction and manage project scope, schedules, and budgets across multiple concurrent projects or programsYou have strong technical decision-making and stakeholder influence skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesYou can manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment and travel domestically up to 60% to support commissioning, customer meetings, and critical project phasesEligible applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
