Job Title: Accountant I

Reports To: Accounting Manager

Location: Corporate

Department: Finance

 

Core Description: The Accountant I is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting functions, including maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reconciliations, and supporting the month-end and year-end close processes. This position plays a key part in ensuring the integrity of financial data and compliance with accounting standards, while providing support to various departments and contributing to the overall efficiency of the finance team.

 

Responsibilities:

· Assists with month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

· Assist with the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including journal entries, invoices, and expense reports.

· Assist with the annual budget process.

· Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.

· Collaborate with various departments to resolve accounting discrepancies.

· Participate in audits and provide requested documentation as needed.

· Assist in maintaining the General Ledger by recording transactions, preparing journal entries, and ensuring accuracy in account balances.

· Assist with JH Subsidiary Company basic accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Journal Entries and Reconciliations.

· Help manage JH Subsidiary fixed asset records, including tracking acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation schedules to ensure accurate reporting.

· Support the preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

· Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

· Experience: 2 – 4 years of accounting experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or chemical industry preferred.

· Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.

· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.

· Strong proficiency with financial systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

· Must pass drug screening as required.

· Must be legally eligible to work in the United States

 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

· Office environment with standard working hours, may require occasional overtime during peak periods or month-end close.

· The job involves primarily sedentary work, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer workstation to perform administrative tasks.

· Extensive use of computers and office equipment is essential for tasks such as drafting documents, managing databases, sending emails, and scheduling appointments. This requires proficient typing skills and the ability to operate office software efficiently.

· Tasks such as typing, filing, organizing documents, and operating office equipment require good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

· Strong visual and auditory abilities are essential for reading and reviewing documents, communicating effectively, and engaging in face-to-face or virtual meetings.
