We partner with CareerSource Broward and other agencies to help veterans and eligible spouses secure employment. Vacancy Context: This is a veteran‑funded position. Appointment follows the order of preference in Public Law 100‑323: first to qualified service‑connected disabled veterans, then to qualified eligible veterans, and finally to qualified persons meeting federal criteria. Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive assessments of skill levels and service needs. Develop individual employment plans with achievable objectives and appropriate services. Provide group and individual career counseling and pre‑vocational training. Coordinate with Department of Veterans Affairs Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment counselors for special disabled veterans. Outreach to local colleges, technical centers, apprenticeship programs, and community organizations to identify and refer veterans. Perform outreach to local organizations and promote the Disability Veterans Outreach Program. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Promote and market the Career Center. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of counseling and case management principles. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong presentation and facilitation abilities. Teamwork, problem‑solving, and public‑interaction skills. Interviewing, listening, relationship‑building, and independent work capabilities. Qualifications: Level 2 security background screening required (fingerprinting and law enforcement records). Submission of required military documentation before announcement closure. Completion of Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG) training with the National Veterans Training Institute within 18 months of employment. Degree in public administration, business administration, social services, or related field, plus 1–3 years of administrative or business services experience. Certification as a Workforce Professional Tier 1 within 30 days of employment. Availability to work some weekends or after‑regular hours at job fairs or community meetings a few times per month. Local travel mandatory; applicant must provide own transportation. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, human services, education, or related field, plus 1–3 years of experience in business services, human resources, case management, or leadership. Experience in workforce development, employment counseling, aptitude testing, or job analysis may substitute for the preferred education.
